Democrats want Medicaid-for-all, even if coverage is lousy
WSJ editorial. Excerpts:
"Start with CBO’s estimate that 5.2 million able-bodied adults on Medicaid would lose coverage owing to the bill’s work requirements. This contradicts the Democratic claim that few able-bodied people on Medicaid don’t work."
"CBO also estimates that the bill’s more frequent Medicaid eligibility verifications would reduce coverage by 700,000. But all the bill does is try to ensure that states don’t keep people on their rolls who are no longer eligible"
"Democrats are seeking to scale back their health coverage for illegals because of ballooning costs, and free health insurance is a welfare magnet."
"the Biden Administration eased income verification, which enabled people to fraudulently obtain larger subsidies."
[the CBO] "estimated in 2018 that the uninsured population would grow by three million to 35 million owing in part to the GOP’s elimination of the ObamaCare penalty for not having insurance. Only about 27 million are currently uninsured."
