The Census Bureau's report says the Black poverty rate was 18.8% in 2019. In the poverty tables that comes from the category of "Black Alone." So I am reporting median household income for the "Black Alone" category.
In 2014, the median black household income (in 2019 dollars) was $38,264. In 2019 it was $45,438. So that is an 18.7% increase in five years. It was up 7.9% in 2019 (it was $42,110 in 2018).
For the poverty rate, see Income, Poverty and Health Insurance Coverage in the United States: 2019 from The Census Bureau. It said "The poverty rate for Blacks decreased by 2.0 percentage points to 18.8%."
To see that they used "Black Alone" and not "Black Alone or in Combination" for their official poverty rate go to Historical Poverty Tables: People and Families - 1959 to 2019 from the Census Bureau. Then go to Table 2. Poverty Status of People by Family Relationship, Race, and Hispanic Origin. For Black Alone or in Combination they show an 18.7% poverty rate. For "Black Alone" it shows 18.8%.
