There is a "Fight for 15" campaign to get the federal minimum wage.
But is every American capable of generating that much revenue per hour on any job? Do you have to be 14 years old? 16? 18? Have a high school diploma? A college degree? At exactly what age does a person get to that level of productivity?
No one will hire you for $15 an hour if you can't be productive enough to generate that much revenue. Does anyone really believe that simply having a high school diploma means a person is worth $30,000 a year (which is approximately what $15 per hour would be for a full year at 40 hours a week).
Are there any businesses anywhere offering salaries like that to high school grads?
If it were true that simply having a high school diploma means a person is worth $30,000 a year, why go to college? A man and woman at age 18 could get married and there $60,000 household income would be about $8,000 above the median household income.
