Meat industry consolidation is not a driver of excessive grocery prices

A tweet from Gene Epstein. He is Director and Moderator of @TheSohoForum, presented by @Reason. Former Economics & Books Editor at Barron's.

""Harris campaign cited meat industry consolidation as a driver of excessive grocery prices" This tracks CPI's meat subcomponent over past decade. It rose by just 8.7% July 2013-July 2019 vs 9.8% for overall CPI , shedding great doubt on pricing power of "meat consolidators"!"
